Submission Guidelines

Use the dropdowns below to explore different aspects of our submission guidelines. Please ensure that your submission adheres to all the guidelines mentioned below! Our editorial team checks all submissions to ensure that they abide by these rules. Your support and contributes help keep Unclassroom running.

What We Look For

General

Our general submissions are open all year-round. We expect submissions to be original and creative, and to tell a story from your life that helped you learn something. Your piece should convey reflection and learning, and encourage users to incorporate these lessons into their lives. If you're interested in submitting, read the guidelines below and click here to submit!

Theme-Based

Our theme-based submissions are open three times a year. In addition to being original, creative, and reflective in nature, we also expect theme-based submissions to effectively capture the theme and contribute to fostering a sense of community and open-mindedness.

Originality & Ownership

All submissions must be original and created by you, without assistance from anyone besides the person submitting this form. Do not submit work that has been plagiarized or written by someone who isn't the one directly sending this to us. Do not submit work generated or significantly modified by Artificial Intelligence. Remember, your work does not need to be "perfect" to be published! If we find that your work has been plagiarized or generated by AI, we reserve the right to reject the submission and not publish it on our platforms (social media and website) and/or magazine issues. If you reference another piece of work within your own work, please explicitly state this. If your work has been published elsewhere, please explicitly state this as well. By submitting, you confirm that you own the rights to the submitted work(s).

Content Guidelines

Submissions must not include NSFW ("Not Safe For Work") content, which includes content that contains:

We also strongly advise against the inclusion of foul language. If your piece does contain such language, please remove all instances of the same, since it can affect the likelihood of your submission being included within social media/web posts and/or magazine releases. Note that sensitive topics may be allowed only if the editorial team believes that they have been thoughtfully and responsibly discussed.

Values

Unclassroom is built on respect, curiosity, and expression. Please uphold these values in your submission(s). In case your work violates these values and/or the spirit of these values, we may request you to rewrite your work. If your work still violates these values after the rewrite OR in more severe instances of such violations, the values may be declined.

Editing & Review Process

Our editorial team reviews all submissions. Our aim is to preserve your voice and thoughts, but we may make minor tweaks (grammar, clarity, formatting) to fit our social media posts, web releases, and/or magazine issues. If we find that your submission violates one or more of our guidelines, we reserve the right to decline the submission. Do remember that we cannot upload/publish your submissions right after they are submitted, but we will do our best to publish them as soon as we can.
